Tulum Town vs Tulum Beach is the first decision you will make when choosing the perfect place to stay in Tulum, but the tough choices don’t stop there. How do you choose the boutique hotel that’s right for you when there are so many amazing Tulum Beach hotels to choose from! Especially when they are all giving off the most perfect jungly/boho vibes all rolled into one magical place. I’ve narrowed the choices down for you to the top 8 boutique hotels. All are situated on the beach and offering a unique luxury experience with the true Tulum vibes you are dreaming of.
Nomade
Morocco and Mexico infused into one beautiful beach side haven! I personally stayed at Nomade on my recent visit to Tulum because they offered a unique beachside glamping experience that I could not resist. I fell in love instantly as walked through this retreat like property. With cocoa burning throughout the grounds, yoga and sound bath mediations offered daily, it is the perfect place if you are looking to relax and focus on your wellness.
La Valise Tulum
La Valise is one of the newest properties on Tulum Beach. As I walked past the perfectly situated property, standing tall with its three beach chalet looking peaks, all I could think was WOW. The view from the inside is even more incredible since you will wake up every morning overlooking both the ocean and jungle right at your sightline. Staying here would be a jungle dream!
Be Tulum
Be Tulum is situated right in between Nomade and La Valise. Stay here if you are looking to experience true luxury with a great focus on wellness. Be Tulum is also home to Yann Wellness Spa which is known to be the best spa in Tulum. (Located across the street).
Habitas
Habitas is situated on the Northern end of Tulum Beach. Although a bit farther away than most of the properties on my list, I still wanted to include because Habitas offers ALL the Tulum vibes along with another unique glamping experience for you to consider.
Azulik
This property is a work of art in itself. If Tarzan won the lottery and decided to build his dream home I’m positive it would look just like this. Azulik is an Adult only Eco-Friendly resort with gorgeous tree house suites that overlook the water. It is also home to the Instagram famous Kin Toh resturant which allows you to dine in giant nests overlooking the Jungle, if you are willing to spend $1,000 USD to do so of course.
Casa Malca
Casa Malca aka The Pablo Escobar Mansion would offer you a unique stay with some history too. The infamous Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar owned the mansion once upon a time until it was eventually seized by the Mexican government. It has since been converted into a luxury boutique hote for visitors to enjoy. Casa Malca is owned by a New York art collector and it shows. As you walk through the property you will find it is filled with large and creepy eclectic art.
Papaya Playa Project
If you are visiting Tulum with friends and you’re looking for a good time, stay at Papaya Playa Project. They are known to have a lively vibe come sundown unlike most of the hotels that have reputation to be solely focused on wellness. Even if you don’t end up staying at Papaya Playa Project I definitely recommend stopping by on Saturday night for some drinks and dancing!
Ikal Tulum Hotel
Ikal Tulum Hotel is a perfect option to consider if you are looking to fulfil your Tulum Instagram dreams on a budget. The design of the rooms are a jungle dream and lets not forget about their beautiful beach facing yoga palapa! Who wouldn’t want to start there morning with yoga and this view. Just know that if you do stay here you will be pretty far North on the hotel strip, but luckily there are always bikes to be rented in Tulum!
