Staying At The Cheeva Dee Hotel – Finding Luxury In Chiang Mai
Whenever I’m looking for the perfect travel accommodation my first priority is always location, second priority is detail! When I came across the Cheeva Dee in my quest for the perfect stay in Chiang Mai, I knew I had found both.
Location
The Cheeva Dee Hotel is perfectly located within the walls of Old City, the ideal location for a first time visitor or someone who is limited on time and wants to be near the city center. The Cheeva Dee sits near the interior west wall of the city and is within a 10 minute walk to some of the most popular temples including Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang. This property checks all the boxes for a perfect location for a well planned stay in Chiang Mai.
The Rooms
There are 15 rooms at this property so it really does have a true boutique feel. Some rooms feature sitting areas as the highlight, others a balcony with street views of Chiang Mai. For me, the true luxury was found in the deep soaking tub. There is no better feeling than coming back from a long day of volunteering at an elephant camp to a nice hot bath! You can tell that the rooms have all been thoughtfully designed to give you a high end modern feel with subtle Thai influenced decor.
The Courtyard
The space that initially stood out to me when I came across the Cheeva Dee was the pool and courtyard area. The greenery and local flowers surrounding the large turquoise pool really made for such a serene and peaceful place to relax. Chiang Mai is a very hot city, so having a hotel with a pool to come back to after a day of exploring is the ultimate luxury.
Dining at Cheeva Dee
Starting my mornings off with a quiet pool side breakfast at the Cheeva Dee was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. They offer both American style breakfast options and Northern Thai Cuisine. Chaing Mai is very big on coffee so the lattes served at the Cheeva Dee did not disappoint!
The Wayla Dee restaurant located on site also serves dinner and has a full bar so you can indulge in a happy hour before heading out to explore the Chiang Mai night bazzar!
Cheeva Dee Spa
It is very well known that you can get a great Thai massage at a very low cost in Thailand but if you are staying at the Cheeva Dee I urge you to splurge and book a massage with the hotel!
The Cheeva Dee spa is an award winning spa in Chaing Mai and as soon as I stepped in for my treatment I knew why. It is not only aesthetically gorgeous with a calming ambiance, but the staff went above and beyond in terms of hospitality. I was greeted by two woman who offered me hot tea and sat me down for a lavish foot wash prior to starting my treatments.
The massage I received was lovely and after it ended and I was welcomed back into the lobby with an assortment of local tea options and mango sticky rice (a very popular Thai dessert). The entire experience felt completely luxurious and over the top in comparison to the other Thai spas I visited. My visit to the Cheeva Dee spa ended up being one of my favorite experiences during my time in Chiang Mai.
I should disclose that the Cheeva Dee spa is not actually located on the hotel property, but the spa has it’s own Cheeva Dee Spa shuttle that will pick you up and and bring you back after your service has ended. The shuttle is infused with calming scents and plays spa music so the experience really does start the second you get into the shuttle!
