Sting Ray City
If you’re visiting Grand Cayman don’t even think about skipping Sting Ray City! A sandbar that is located in the middle of the Ocean is home to a few dozen domicile Sting Rays which you can pet, feed and even kiss! You’ll be standing in about 3 Ft of water so it is perfect for an entry level snorkel experience.
How did these dangerous wild creatures become domesticated do you ask? This was the result of fisherman cleaning their catch of the day in the shallow area, which then caused the fish to associate the sound of the boats with feeding time. They have now gathered here daily for decades waiting for the tourist to arrive and rely on visitors for food.
Star Fish Point
A small beach that is located on the Northern side of Rum point where you can find several dozen Starfish hanging out near the shore. The starfish all vary in size and color. Another great way to experience Grand Cayman Island’s sea life in its natural habitat.
If you do make it out to meet the Starfish, just remember they need to be in the water to breath and stay alive! Resist the urge to pull them out for Selfies!!
Scuba Diving
Grand Cayman is known to offer some of the best diving sites in the Caribbean with over offers over 159 sites to choose from. If you’ve never gone scuba diving but are dying to check this off your bucket list I would highly recommend scheduling a “resort dive” because it does not require certification. Cheeseburger Reef would be a great option for first timers! On this 40 Ft dive you will likely spot tropical fish, sea turtles, and stingrays.
If you are wondering why or how the reef was named Cheeseburger Reef, it got its name simply for being across the street from the down town Burger King.
Snorkeling
There are so many snorkeling sites to visit but make sure you at least hit up one on your stay! The island offers some of the Caribbean’s clearest waters which makes it easy to spot beautiful salt water fish, lobsters, and even eels along the colorful reefs.
Seven Mile Beach
The most well-known beach on the island. It’s beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise water are to die for! Taking a walk along the full stretch of the beach is a must while visiting!
Bio-luminescent Kayaking
Take after dark kayaking to another level by booking a bioluminescent kayak tour! Watch the water light up behind you as you break the water with your paddle. Micro-organisms called Pyrodinium Bahamanse emit a blue light when disturbed and help make for a unique and magical Grand Cayman experience.
